We have reorganized and integrated our affiliated subsidiary sales companies in Europe into a unique European subsidiary company, TOSHIBA TEC EUROPE RETAIL INFORMATION SYSTEMS S.A. (hereinafter called TERIS), which was inaugurated in Belgium on October 1, 2000.

Before the integration, our European subsidiary sales companies were dispersed in the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Spain and Belgium. There were also branches affiliated with these companies, in Ireland and Portugal. The reorganization and integration has located the head office in Brussels, Belgium, and changed the form of the other subsidiary companies into branches by transferring their business to TERIS, enabling unification of the management functions to effectively work out our strategy for the European market.

The main purpose of the reorganization and integration is to deal especially with border-less business developments of major retailers that have been more active recently, as well as to promptly and flexibly respond to market changes according to the transfer of the single economic market in Europe.

The establishment of TERIS will facilitate our sales activities and expand the sales routes, by developing the market and product strategies into the ones for the whole European market, which were previously planned in each subsidiary company. In terms of physical distribution and management, we also aim to reduce stock by unifying the functions of shipments from the single European warehouse, order receiving and placing, and financial management, enabling cash flow to improve. In the future, TERIS will expand its functions as an organization that will unify sales activities throughout Europe.
