Toshiba TEC Corporation will release "CrossMission
Ver2.0." The previous version "CrossMission" was a development
and execution environment on .NET, released in May 2002, and was
well received. "CrossMission Ver2.0" is the first-in-the industry
framework, which supports Windows Server 2003 and Visual Studio
.NET 2003. CrossMission is a business framework for configuring
applications on .NET Framework. It provides a software environment
and an application execution environment, for developers to build
various business systems, using the Internet as a platform. The
application server functions, along with various class libraries,
wizards and tools, make it easier to configure business systems
on .NET Framework and Visual Studio .NET. "CrossMission" released
last year uses add-ins for the .NET development tool "Visual Studio
.NET" and enables .NET Framework-compatible applications to be
developed on the similar development environment. Then, the new
version "CrossMission Ver2.0," compatible with Windows Server
2003 having .NET Framework as its OS, and with its development
environment "Visual Studio .NET 2003," will be released shortly.
CrossMission Ver2.0 is fully compatible with .NET Framework1.1,
Visual C# .NET, Visual Basic .NET, and Visual J# .NET as well,
and enhances enterprise functions, such as load sharing. Aiming
at the "Creation of Future Shopping" in the retail industry, Toshiba
TEC adopts "CrossMission" in its entirety, as its own solution,
and thus, will employ applicable "CrossMission" products continuously,
from the second half of this fiscal year. Toshiba TEC has obtained
more than 10 customers with Ver1.0. The customers' outstanding
evaluation, saying CrossMission's system developments are superior
in productivity and reliability, are achieved through its business
framework. Toshiba TEC is one of the leading companies in systems
development for the retail industry. However, CrossMission is
not only intended for application developments in specific areas,
but generally available for the development of any .NET-compatible
applications. Mr. Yasufumi Hirai, director of Microsoft Japan
made the following comments regarding the release of CrossMission
compatible with Windows Server 2003 and Visual Studio .NET 2003;
"Toshiba TEC and Microsoft formed an alliance in February 2001
and are moving forward with our business collaboration. We enhanced
the relationship in the retail industry in April 2003. The changes
in the business environment have recently accelerated, and the
fusing between Internet standard technologies and business applications
and the enhancement of corporation competitiveness using IT, are
in high demand. I strongly believe Windows Server 2003 and Visual
Studio .NET 2003 from Microsoft will satisfy such increasing corporate
needs. Microsoft welcomes Toshiba TEC's .NET-compatible business
framework, "CrossMission Ver2.0," which promptly supports our
latest products. I am sure CrossMission Ver2.0 will surge forward
with the spreading of .NET in enterprise systems." "CrossMission"
applied for Microsoft's new logo certification program and Toshiba
TEC is finalizing formalities for "CrossMission" to be qualified
for the CfW (Certified for Windows Server 2003) logo. "CrossMission"
is used by many system development companies, including Computer
Engineering & Consulting Ltd. (CEC), Frameworx, Inc., NEC Soft,
Ltd. and Sorimachi Giken Co., Ltd., as part of their .NET solutions.
CEC (head office: Shibuya-ku, Tokyo, President: Ryuzo Miyahara)
takes part in the distribution of "CrossMission" to consumers,
while providing a wide range of training and support services.
Distribution outside Japan is based on Toshiba TEC's overseas
sales offices. In addition, Toshiba TEC is currently selecting
cooperating partners for overseas distribution. "CrossMission
Ver2.0" is priced, similarly to Ver1.0, at 198,000 yen for the
developer's package, and \600,000 yen and up, for the runtime
license. The runtime version for server/client configurations
is also prepared. As a special offer for the release of Ver2.0,
the developer's package will be priced at 99,000 yen for a limited
period, to the end of August 2003. Toshiba TEC is committed to
expanding the range of application developments along with ASP
services, using .NET Framework and "CrossMission," through the
alliance with Microsoft. Toshiba TEC further continues to enhance
and extend the functions of "CrossMission" in order to popularize
web services. Regarding CF .NET (Compact Framework .NET) supported
by Visual Studio .NET 2003, "CrossMission Ver2.0" is presently
compatible in part and will enhance the compatibility with future
versions. The latest information regarding "CrossMission" is available
